Research

I am interested in topics within syntax, semantics, and morphology. My research especially examines linguistic phenomena from an acquisition perspective.

English and Hindi are my native languages, but my work is not restricted to any language family. My past and present work draws from American Sign Language, English, Brazilian Portuguese, German, and Kham (a.o.). Currently, I am particularly interested in what we can learn from sign languages.

Ongoing projects include:

  • Acquisition of Passives (with Charles Yang)
  • Acquisition of Control and Raising Predicates (with Charles Yang)
  • Definiteness in American Sign Language (with Florian Schwarz)
  • Hindi Passives (with Julie Anne Legate)
  • Non-uniformity in extraction from DP internal PPs (with Luke Adamson)
